AI Summary
This bill expands the circumstances under which a facility dog, which is a specially trained dog that assists individuals in therapeutic or legal settings, can be present in court. Previously, facility dogs were allowed to accompany witnesses who were under eighteen years of age or had a developmental disability. This legislation amends existing law (R.S. 15:284(A)) to also permit facility dogs to accompany victims of sex offenses, as defined in R.S. 15:541, while they are testifying in court, provided such a dog is available.
