This bill expresses the Legislature's intent to create new laws aimed at assisting mobilehome park communities that have been impacted by disasters, whether natural or caused by humans. Currently, existing law, known as the Mobilehome Residency Law, already has provisions in place for situations where a mobilehome park is destroyed by events like wildfires. Specifically, if the park management decides to rebuild at the same location, they must offer a renewed tenancy to former homeowners. Additionally, if a mobilehome tenancy is ended due to disaster damage, management is required to refund any prepaid rent and the homeowner is not obligated to pay rent during any period they are under a mandatory evacuation order. This bill, however, focuses on the broader legislative goal of supporting these communities in the aftermath of such events.
