This bill modifies existing law to provide immunity to local emergency telephone systems, including public agencies, telephone companies, and counties, from civil liability for damages arising from their operations, except in cases of gross negligence, willful or wanton misconduct. The bill removes "gross negligence" from the list of actions for which these entities can be held liable, meaning they are protected from lawsuits unless their actions are extremely careless or reckless.
