This bill establishes the Health Care Reform Task Force, a group composed of three senators, five representatives, the commissioner of the Insurance Department (or their designee), the state Medicaid director (or their designee), and two members appointed by the governor, with legislative leaders designating co-chairs. The task force's purpose is to explore the creation of multistate coalitions to develop joint strategies and uniform agreements for addressing various aspects of the healthcare system, including regulations for pharmacy benefit managers, drug purchasing, reporting and transparency of healthcare costs, Medicaid programs, and the healthcare workforce. The Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel will provide staff support, and members will not receive compensation but can be reimbursed for per diem and travel expenses. The task force is required to report its progress and recommendations to the Health and Human Services Interim Committee by September 1, 2027, and the bill will become effective on May 6, 2026.
