This bill amends existing Idaho law to require that all interviews of alleged child abuse victims, including safety assessments, investigative interviews, and risk assessment interviews, be documented by audio or video recording, unless good cause is shown otherwise. This change applies to interviews conducted by law enforcement, the department of health and welfare, and child advocacy centers, and it clarifies that the absence of such a recording will not prevent the evidence from being used in court. The bill also specifies an effective date of July 1, 2026.
