This bill authorizes the city of Plymouth to impose a local sales and use tax of up to one-half of one percent, provided it is approved by voters in a general election. The revenue generated from this tax, which will be administered and collected according to state law (Minnesota Statutes, section 297A.99), is designated for specific projects: $45 million for improvements to the Plymouth Ice Center and an adjacent public parking ramp, $40 million for improvements to the Plymouth Community Center, including a fieldhouse, and $35 million for improvements to regional sports complexes. The city can also issue bonds, up to $120 million, to finance these projects, with the bonds being repaid by the sales tax revenue.
