This bill requires employers in Minnesota, upon request, to provide a job accommodation request form to an employee who has a known disability and needs an accommodation. This form, which will be developed and distributed by the commissioner, must allow the employee to describe their disability-related limitations and suggest potential accommodations. This is part of the existing legal requirement for employers to engage in an informal, interactive process with employees with disabilities to identify and provide reasonable accommodations, which are modifications to the job or work environment that help an individual perform their job duties, unless doing so would cause an undue hardship on the business.
