This bill amends New York's general business law to expand the definition of "imitation weapon" to explicitly include air rifles, pellet guns, and "B-B" guns, and clarifies that "other types of air guns" are those that expel projectiles using spring, air, or non-ignited compressed gas. It also raises the minimum age for selling paint pellet guns and other air guns from sixteen to eighteen years old, and increases the potential civil penalty for violations to up to one thousand dollars per offense. Furthermore, the bill requires gun industry members, which now explicitly includes those dealing with imitation weapons, to implement reasonable controls and procedures to prevent the theft and unlawful sale of their products, and to take steps to prevent the manufacturing of imitation weapons that replicate actual qualified products.
