This resolution, a joint resolution of the Alabama Legislature, commends Tommy Jacques, a bus driver for Madison City Schools (MCS), for his heroic actions on November 18, 2025. While driving his route for Midtown Elementary School, Mr. Jacques discovered a child who was unresponsive. He immediately pulled the bus over, contacted the MCS bus garage to request an ambulance, and then attended to the child by moving other students to the back of the bus, checking the child's pulse, and positioning him safely. First responders arrived shortly thereafter, and the child was taken to the hospital, where he made a full recovery and returned to school. The resolution highlights Mr. Jacques' prior experience and training, including CPR, which prepared him for this emergency, and acknowledges his ongoing commitment to student safety through daily discussions and encouragement of safety practices. He was previously honored by MCS leadership for his "exceptional high standard of empathy, patience, care, and professionalism."
