This resolution, a formal expression of sentiment from the Tennessee Senate and House of Representatives, honors the memory of Emmett L. Bolyard of Bolivar, recognizing his extensive service and dedication to his community. Mr. Bolyard, who moved to Tennessee in 1963, began his public service with the Bolivar Fire Department in 1964, becoming the first paid firefighter and rising to the rank of assistant chief. He received the Firefighter of the Year Award twice and continued as a volunteer firefighter until 2025, accumulating over sixty-one years of service. Beyond his firefighting career, he also served as a reserve school bus driver, helped with the local ambulance service, and worked at the Jervis Corporation. A devoted member of Bolivar's First Methodist Church, where he served as custodian for over fifteen years, Mr. Bolyard was also deeply committed to his family, cherishing time with his grandchildren. The resolution extends sympathy to his family and directs that a copy of this tribute be prepared for their presentation.
