It also clarifies that instruments granting property interests, like deeds or leases, are not considered construction contracts even if they allow for improvements. The bill reaffirms that provisions in construction contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders for projects in Louisiana, where one party is domiciled in the state, are invalid if they require disputes to be resolved outside of Louisiana or be governed by the laws of another jurisdiction, reinforcing that such matters must be handled according to Louisiana law. These provisions apply to agreements entered into after September 6, 1991, and do not apply to negotiated labor contracts.
