This bill allows employees in Minnesota to choose not to participate in the state's paid family or medical leave program, which is a benefit program established under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 268B. To opt out, an employee must submit a specific form to the commissioner, who is responsible for creating and providing this form both online and in a physical format. This opt-out option applies to either the family leave benefit, the medical leave benefit, or both. The change will take effect the day after the bill is officially passed into law.
