This bill encourages and authorizes the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia to maintain policies that grant academic credit to active duty military personnel and veterans for learning acquired through their military service, provided that the training and experience are relevant to the coursework. To facilitate this, these boards are authorized to use joint service transcripts, which are official documents from the U.S. Department of Defense detailing military training and experience, and credit recommendations from organizations that evaluate military courses. Furthermore, both boards, in partnership with the Department of Veterans Service, will develop and provide a public guide outlining courses for which students can receive academic credit based on their military service.
