This bill makes technical, nonsubstantive changes to existing California law regarding cancer data collection and analysis. Specifically, it amends Section 103875 of the Health and Safety Code to clarify that the program for epidemiological assessments of cancer incidence, which monitors cancers related to potential carcinogens in the environment and workplaces, will be under the direction of the State Public Health Officer, rather than the "director" as previously stated. The State Public Health Officer is responsible for analyzing cancer data, preparing reports, and identifying public health hazards and their solutions, and can enter into contracts and accept grants for the program.
