This resolution, a formal statement by both the Tennessee House of Representatives and Senate, recognizes and congratulates Reverend Ann Jones-Pierre, Dr. Carolyn Baldwin Tucker, and Representative Johnny Shaw for receiving the Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators' Living Legend Award. This award honors individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to their communities and the state through their dedicated public service. Reverend Jones-Pierre is recognized for her four decades of ministry, leadership roles in finance at the Tennessee Valley Authority, her work with the Church Koinonia Federal Credit Union, and her current presidency of the Chattanooga Branch of the NAACP. Dr. Tucker is honored for her extensive career as an educator and administrator in Metro Nashville Public Schools, her roles as a visiting professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Education at Lipscomb University, and her service on the Nashville Metro Council. Representative Shaw is acknowledged for his service as a State Representative for House District 80, his prior role as a Madison County Commissioner, his co-founding of Shaw Broadcasting Company, and his continued service as an Under Shepherd for Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, in addition to his involvement with the NAACP and the National Civil Rights Museum. The resolution commends their unwavering dedication and expresses best wishes for their continued success.
