The resolution highlights the widespread impact of crime and violence, the critical need for increased state investment in programs that assist crime survivors and their families in addressing trauma, and the importance of trauma recovery centers as essential resources. It emphasizes that Alabama must also address immediate safety concerns and develop long-term plans to tackle the root causes of violence, recognizing that the voices and input of survivors are crucial for improving public safety, victim services, and criminal justice policies, as many survivors currently do not receive the necessary help. Copies of this resolution are to be presented to Crime Survivors Speak and Just Safe, the organizations that organized the Survivors Speak Alabama 2026 event.
