This means that the amount of money these residents can keep for personal expenses will go up each year to help offset rising costs. The bill also clarifies that "long-term care facility" includes various types of licensed nursing homes, chronic disease hospitals, and state institutions. The personal needs allowance is the amount of money a resident in a long-term care facility is allowed to keep for their personal use, with the remainder of their income going towards their care costs.
