This bill extends the expiration date of a sales tax exemption for aviation jet fuel purchased by common carriers engaged in interstate air transportation of passengers and cargo. This exemption, which applies to state sales and use taxes up to an aggregate amount of $1.5 million per calendar year, will now expire on December 31, 2043, instead of December 31, 2033. To qualify, common carriers must provide a certificate to the seller, and the director of revenue is authorized to establish direct-pay agreements and permit refunds for excess taxes paid. The bill also specifies that sales and use tax revenues from aviation jet fuel, after certain designated amounts are accounted for, will be deposited into the aviation trust fund, with a cap of $10 million annually.
