This resolution, passed by the members of the One Hundred Ninth Legislature of Nebraska, Second Session, formally recognizes March 2026 as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is described as a debilitating disease affecting the central nervous system, which disrupts communication between the brain and the body, and while treatments exist to slow its progression, there is currently no known cause or cure. The resolution acknowledges that an estimated one million people in the United States, including over three thousand in Nebraska, live with MS, and it expresses support for those diagnosed with the condition, as well as their families and support systems for the care they provide. The purpose of recognizing March as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month is to unite individuals in Nebraska, across the United States, and globally in the effort to end MS, foster stronger connections, and educate the public about the disease and how they can contribute to making a difference.
