AI Summary
This bill aims to improve government efficiency by updating various provisions related to the Office of the Safety Fire Commissioner in Georgia. Key changes include establishing procedures for rule-making, hearings, and appeals, and creating a new position for a deputy commissioner of safety fire with defined duties and powers. The bill also grants subpoena power to authorized personnel, establishes an appeals board to review decisions on building permits, and allows for the review of actions taken by deputized personnel. Furthermore, it authorizes evacuation orders in cases of imminent life safety hazards, mandates immediate reporting of fire or smoke-related fatalities, and allows for the suspension or revocation of licenses. The bill also increases a reinspection fee and clarifies the enforcement authority of the Commissioner, aligning various hearing and appeal processes with Chapter 2 of Title 33, which governs contested cases and administrative procedures for insurance matters, rather than the Georgia Administrative Procedure Act.
