AI Summary
This bill requires certain privately funded organizations that operate shelters or provide outreach services to homeless individuals to participate in the Georgia Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), which is a data system used to track services for homeless individuals. Specifically, this requirement applies to organizations that operate within 1,000 feet of schools, public parks, public playgrounds, or certain child care facilities. "Outreach services" are defined as providing medical care, clothing, food, or shelter. Violations of this requirement will result in a noncriminal citation. However, organizations that provided services to fewer than ten individuals in the preceding 12 months are exempt. This bill also specifies that it only applies within a ten-mile radius of a large, multi-county municipal corporation that has a metropolitan public transportation system and an independent school system, reflecting a legislative finding that coordinated and accountable service delivery is crucial for individuals experiencing homelessness, especially in areas with significant public investment in related services.
