This bill establishes a three-year pilot program called the Career Technical Education Technical Assistance and Equity Pilot Program, which aims to improve career technical education (CTE) by providing specialized support and focusing on fairness and inclusion for all students. The Superintendent of Public Instruction will select a county office of education to lead this program, and two specific regions will be chosen to receive intensive assistance. The program will receive $4,000,000 from the state's general fund for the 2026-27 fiscal year to help the lead agency develop inclusive CTE pathways for students with disabilities, English learners, and other underserved groups, create resources for partnerships between schools and industries, offer training and support to participating county offices of education within the pilot regions, maintain a public website, and report on its progress. Participating county offices are encouraged to engage with the program and will be expected to coordinate CTE support within their areas, with a priority given to those serving high numbers of historically underserved students or facing significant equity challenges in CTE. School districts and charter schools that opt to receive direct assistance must participate in data collection and implement recommended improvements. The program's provisions will be repealed on January 1, 2032.
