This bill, effective October 1, 2026, expands the definition of "child sexual abuse material" by amending Section 53a-193 of the general statutes. Previously, this material was defined as visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct involving a person under sixteen years of age. The bill now includes depictions where the subject *appears indistinguishable* from a person under sixteen years of age, meaning an ordinary person viewing the depiction would conclude it shows someone under sixteen engaging in such conduct, provided this is not a drawing, cartoon, sculpture, or painting. The bill also clarifies that "indistinguishable" means virtually indistinguishable and that the age of the subject at the time of creation is a question for the fact-finder.
