This bill authorizes the state to sell and issue bonds, which are essentially loans that the state takes out, up to $4,103,000 to fund improvements to trails in the city of Prior Lake. The money appropriated from the sale of these bonds will be given as a grant to the city of Prior Lake by the commissioner of natural resources, a state government official responsible for natural resources, to design and build three sections of a paved, multi-use trail along the west side of Trunk Highway 13. This trail is intended to connect different parts of the community, link to existing trail systems, offer a safe route to schools, improve access to recreational activities, and enhance safety for people walking and biking.
