This bill modifies the process for obtaining approval to drill oil and gas wells in California by extending the timeframe for the State Oil and Gas Supervisor, or their deputy, to respond to a notice of intention to drill from 10 to 30 working days, after which a failure to respond will be considered an approval. If the notice is denied, the supervisor or deputy must now provide a comprehensive written explanation for the denial within those 30 working days. The bill also clarifies that if drilling operations haven't started within 24 months of receiving approval for the notice, the approval is automatically canceled.
