This bill expresses the Legislature's intention to require the Labor Commissioner, who is the head of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement and oversees workplace protections, to collect and report data specifically about women working in the construction industry to the Legislature. This initiative builds upon existing law that already mandates the Department of Industrial Relations to create a "Women in Construction Priority Unit" to offer resources and develop training aimed at improving the construction industry's work environment and addressing employment barriers for women and nonbinary individuals.
