This bill makes a technical, nonsubstantive change to existing California law regarding the packaging and labeling of cannabis and cannabis products. The existing law, established by the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA) and further consolidated by the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA), requires that cannabis and cannabis products be sold in tamper-evident, child-resistant packaging with specific labeling that includes government warnings, ingredient information, weight, origin, and allergen warnings, and a unique identifier for tracking. The change proposed by this bill is to replace the phrase "In the event" with "If" in a provision that states the label will no longer require a warning about cannabis being a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law, should the Attorney General determine that it is no longer classified as such. This amendment is intended to be a minor clarification without altering the substance of the regulations.
