This bill appropriates $30,000,000 from the bond proceeds fund to the Minnesota Zoological Board for capital asset preservation improvements and betterments at the Minnesota Zoo, which includes infrastructure and exhibits. This funding can be used to replace buildings in poor condition, construct and renovate trails and roads, and update animal exhibits to meet modern animal welfare standards, improve safety for animals and staff, and enhance the guest viewing experience, even if these uses go beyond the typical allowances under Minnesota Statutes, section 16B.307. To secure this funding, the commissioner of management and budget is authorized to sell and issue state bonds up to $30,000,000, following established state bond sale procedures and constitutional requirements.
