This bill requires the Environmental Quality Board to order a comprehensive review, known as a generic environmental impact statement, to assess the environmental effects of producing and using sustainable aviation fuel, which is a type of fuel for aircraft that is made from renewable resources. Additionally, the bill places a temporary halt on both tax credits and grants that would otherwise be available to businesses involved in sustainable aviation fuel production and blending. Specifically, it amends existing law to stipulate that a tax credit for sustainable aviation fuel can only be claimed after the Environmental Quality Board completes its environmental impact statement, and it also prohibits the commissioner of agriculture from awarding any grants for this purpose until that statement is finished.
