AI Summary
This bill modifies Louisiana's Self-Service Storage Facility Act by updating definitions and procedures related to rental agreements and lessee defaults. Key changes include defining "default" as a lessee's failure to meet their obligations on time, allowing rental agreements to be delivered and accepted electronically, and specifying that notice of a storage facility owner's lien can be sent via verified mail and electronic mail to the lessee's last known address and provided email address, respectively. The bill also introduces new sections that allow owners to terminate rental agreements by providing written notice and to consider property abandoned and dispose of it without further notice if a lessee fails to remove their belongings after a rental agreement expires or after a termination notice. Additionally, it clarifies that if a motor vehicle, watercraft, or trailer is towed due to a lessee's 60-day default, the owner is not liable for the property or any damages once the towing company takes possession.
