This bill modifies the "Candidate for office financial disclosure act" by changing the deadline for candidates to file their financial disclosure reports. Currently, candidates must file by May 15th of an election year, or within 15 days of filing a statement of organization if that occurs after May 15th. However, beginning after May 15, 2027, this bill will move the primary filing deadline to April 15th, with the same 15-day grace period for those filing a statement of organization later. The bill also removes a specific reporting deadline for the 2024 reporting period that was previously set for June 13, 2025, and clarifies that candidates not elected are not required to file in subsequent years unless they run again. Importantly, candidates already required to file under the "Public Officers Financial Disclosure Act" are exempt from filing under this act.
