AI Summary

This bill modifies Louisiana's sex offender registration and notification laws by updating the definitions of "sex offense" and "sexual offense against a victim who is a minor" to include new crimes like unlawful deepfakes and clarifying existing ones, such as oral sexual battery when the victim is under eighteen. It also adjusts registration procedures, specifying that offenders must register for the specific offense that requires it and clarifying when community notifications are not required to be renewed after an offender's temporary absence or confinement, provided they return to their registered address and a certain time period has not elapsed. Additionally, the bill introduces new provisions for offenders who are arrested or involuntarily committed to a mental health facility for over thirty days, requiring them to update their registration and, if returning to their original address, not necessitating immediate community re-notification unless five years have passed since the last notification. The bill also amends the court's written notification form to include information about supervised release for certain offenses and adds requirements for offenders to provide their intended residence address to correctional facilities prior to release, which will then be forwarded to law enforcement.
