Bill Summary
AN ACT To enact R.S. 47:463.243, relative to motor vehicle special prestige license plates; to establish the "Classic Black We Will Never Forget: Caroline and Maggie" special prestige license plate; to provide for the creation, issuance, design, implementation, fees, distribution, and rule promulgation applicable to the license plate; and to provide for related matters.
AI Summary
This bill establishes a new specialty license plate in Louisiana called the "Classic Black We Will Never Forget: Caroline and Maggie" plate, which will be available for passenger cars, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and vans. To be created, at least one thousand people must apply for the plate, and the Department of Public Safety and Corrections' vehicle registration system must be updated to accommodate it. The design will feature a white alphanumeric series on a black background with a white border and "LOUISIANA" at the top. In addition to standard license plate fees, there will be an annual royalty fee of twenty-five dollars, with three dollars and fifty cents going to the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to cover administrative costs. The remaining royalty fees will be sent to the Donald J. Thibodeaux Training Center in Zachary, Louisiana, to fund emergency vehicle operations training for local governments. The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections will create the necessary rules and regulations to implement this new specialty plate.
