This bill allows nonprofit organizations, defined as entities operating for a purpose other than profit where income isn't distributed to members, to participate in permitted games of chance, such as Bingo, raffles, or lotteries, by registering annually with the state police, who are referred to as the "department" in this context. Importantly, these registered nonprofit organizations will be exempt from any background checks that local law enforcement might otherwise require, and this change will take effect immediately upon its passage.
