This bill exempts certain individuals working in transportation occupations from the Minnesota Paid Leave Law, which provides benefits for workers who need to take time off for specific family or medical reasons. Specifically, it excludes individuals whose jobs are regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation regarding qualifications and maximum hours of service, as well as those hired by businesses involved in motor freight transportation and warehousing, as defined by certain Standard Industrial Codes (SIC). These exclusions are being added to the definitions of "covered employment" and "employee" within the existing law.
