This resolution, passed by the House of Representatives, congratulates and commends Mercedes A. Arnold for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award. The award is named in honor of Representative Nikki T. Randall, a pioneering African American legislator in Georgia, and is presented annually during Women's History Month to recognize women who embody her leadership and inspiration. The resolution highlights Ms. Arnold's extensive dedication to service, including her work organizing an economic boycott march and voter registration drives in Savannah, her compassionate support for AIDS patients and families as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Jamaica and in Atlanta during the 1980s pandemic, her advocacy for civil rights as a Field Director for the NAACP, and her leadership roles with various Savannah and federal advisory committees. The resolution directs the Clerk of the House to provide a copy of this commendation to Ms. Arnold.
