If the state appropriation for this supplement is less than $10,000, local school boards can contribute the difference to ensure the teacher receives the full amount. The supplement will stop if a teacher is no longer in a position requiring their exceptional children certification, and local school boards or the Department of Education will seek reimbursement for these supplements from the fund to support education excellence.
