This bill, known as the "Checkoff Transparency Act," amends the Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act of 1996 to require the Secretary of Agriculture to make certain information publicly available on the Department of Agriculture's website. Specifically, for any "order" (a rule or directive issued by the Secretary) under a "commodity promotion law" (laws that allow for the collection of fees from producers of specific agricultural commodities to fund promotion and research), the Secretary must publish annual audit reports submitted by commodity boards, details of their approved activities and budgets, and the outcomes of periodic independent evaluations. This information will be made available for the five fiscal years prior to the bill's enactment within 180 days of its passage, and for subsequent fiscal years within 365 days of the end of each year.
