This resolution commends the Morehouse Boxing Club for its significant achievements and positive impact. Founded in 2021, the club was established to provide young men with the discipline and guidance found in boxing, inspired by its founder's experience at the Guns Down Hands Up Boxing Gym. Despite initial challenges, including administrative reprimands for using campus facilities, the club persevered with the support of Morehouse College Chief of Police Charles Prescott, who became its first advisor. The club's dedication led to their historic participation and success in the 2025 United States Intercollegiate Boxing Association (USIBA) National Tournament, where they became the first Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to win championship belts, with Kaleb Hudson and Elijah McClean earning titles. Beyond competition, the Morehouse Boxing Club actively engages the community by promoting discipline, fitness, mentorship, and healthy lifestyles, visiting local schools to present boxing as a path to higher education and leadership, and working to secure scholarships for aspiring student-athletes. The resolution directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to provide a copy of this commendation to the Morehouse Boxing Club.
