This resolution congratulates and commends Shelia Edwards for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award, an honor established by the Georgia Women's Legislative Caucus to recognize outstanding women who embody the leadership and inspiration of former Representative Nikki T. Randall, the first African American woman elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia. The resolution highlights Ms. Edwards' extensive community advocacy in Cobb County on issues such as quality-of-life, housing, and public safety, her successful efforts in environmental justice and community protection, her work with the Mel Pender Foundation to elevate its visibility and impact, and her role as Publisher of Spotlight South Cobb News, an online publication serving local communities. It also acknowledges her educational background, including a degree from Benedict College and certifications from Emory University, her current pursuit of a Master of Public Policy at Georgia State University, and her significant civic and philanthropic leadership, such as co-chairing the UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball, which raises funds for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and her service on various boards and with numerous organizations. The resolution directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to provide a copy of this commendation to Ms. Edwards.
