This bill proposes to remove a specific limitation on the millage rate, which is a tax rate based on property value, for the Dalton Independent School System. Currently, a law from 2011 limits how much the millage rate can be increased. This bill would remove that existing limitation and, in its place, establish a new maximum millage rate of 9.5 mills. The City of Dalton will be responsible for the costs of this election, and election officials are mandated to carry out their duties, with legal recourse available to ensure compliance.
