Its mandate includes reviewing criminal statutes, civil remedies, reporting requirements, and institutional accountability, with a focus on identifying barriers to justice for victims and comparing Alabama's laws to those in other states. The commission is tasked with submitting a comprehensive report with findings and proposed legislation to state leadership by November 1, 2026, after which it will be dissolved.
