This bill amends Michigan election law to allow townships to contract with an accredited individual to perform election duties if the township clerk and any deputy clerks are unavailable. The accredited individual must be a resident of Michigan and accredited to conduct elections, as defined by section 33 of the law. This contracted individual will have the same powers and authority as a deputy township clerk regarding registrations, nominations, and elections until the clerk or a deputy can resume their duties, or a new clerk is appointed or elected and accredited. Unless the contract states otherwise, the contracted individual must report to the township board at each regular meeting about the duties they have performed.
