This bill, effective July 1, 2026, increases the issuing fees that individuals authorized to sell hunting and fishing licenses can charge. Specifically, the issuing fee for licenses to take deer or bear with firearms and archery, to take small game, to take fish by angling or spearing, to trap fur-bearing animals, for a turkey license, and for a wolf license will increase from $1 to $4 for residents and $6 for nonresidents. Other licenses, such as the Minnesota sporting license, prairie-chicken license, elk license, and moose license, will see their issuing fee increase from $1 to $4. The bill also clarifies that for duplicate licenses, the issuing fee for big game licenses will be 75 cents, and for other licenses, it will be 50 cents. The issuing fee is the commission kept by the seller for processing and selling the licenses.
