AI Summary
This bill amends existing Michigan law concerning firearms to abolish certain immunities from civil liability for firearm and ammunition manufacturers and to remove restrictions on local governments suing these entities. Specifically, it removes provisions that prevented political subdivisions (like cities and counties) from bringing civil lawsuits against individuals or companies that produce firearms or ammunition, except in very limited circumstances related to contracts or defects when the political subdivision itself was the purchaser. The bill also removes the immunity granted to federally licensed firearms dealers and other producers of firearms or ammunition from civil liability for damages arising from the use or misuse of their products, provided the sale complied with all applicable laws. The changes are intended to clarify the law and apply to any pending civil actions.
