This bill amends existing Ohio law to define and regulate "portable solar generation devices," which are movable solar power devices with a maximum output of 1,200 watts, designed to plug into a standard 120-volt outlet to offset a customer's electricity use, and must be certified by a recognized testing laboratory. The bill exempts these devices from needing approval or interconnection agreements with electric utilities, and prohibits utilities from charging fees for their use or requiring additional equipment beyond what is integrated into the device itself. The Public Utilities Commission will be responsible for creating rules to implement these provisions.
