This joint resolution honors and commends FTO Jared Wilcox and Officer Joel Crawford, members of the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD), for their exceptional bravery and quick actions in saving the lives of two gunshot victims on January 17, 2025. FTO stands for Field Training Officer, a role where an experienced officer trains a new recruit. Upon responding to a shooting, Officers Wilcox and Crawford immediately provided critical medical aid to the more severely injured victim, applying a chest seal to address breathing issues and a compression bandage to control severe bleeding. Their decisive actions stabilized the victims, allowing for their safe transport by emergency medical personnel and ultimately ensuring their survival, for which they have been awarded the CPD Lifesaving Medal.
