This resolution, passed by the Tennessee House of Representatives, honors and commends the Tennessee Century Farms Program on its fiftieth anniversary. Established in 1975, the program recognizes farms that have been continuously owned and operated by the same family for at least 100 years, celebrating the enduring legacy of family farming in Tennessee, which is a cornerstone of the state's economy and culture. The program, a partnership with the Department of Agriculture and led by MTSU's Center for Historic Preservation, has certified over 2,300 farms across all Tennessee counties and serves as a nationally respected model for rural preservation, strengthening historic recognition and deepening appreciation for agriculture's role in the state's history.
