This bill requires that the social services agency responsible for a child in foster care must provide that child with appropriate new or like-new luggage or travel bags when they enter or reenter foster care, move between placements, exit foster care, or otherwise need them, explicitly stating that disposable bags, trash bags, or cardboard boxes are not acceptable. The bill also allows the agency to provide replacement luggage if a child's is lost, stolen, or damaged, and prohibits agencies or providers from reclaiming luggage given to a child, while permitting agencies to accept donations for this purpose. Furthermore, each agency must annually report its compliance with this requirement to the Office of the Foster Youth Ombudsperson, with these provisions taking effect on January 1, 2027.
