This bill formally approves an amendment to the charter of the Town of Panton, which the town's voters approved on May 15, 2025, to establish procedures for the recall of elected Town officers. The new provisions, which will become part of the Town of Panton's charter, outline that a written petition signed by at least 15 percent of registered voters can initiate a recall vote. This vote will be held either at the next regular Town meeting or a special meeting called within 45 days, depending on the timing of the petition. For an officer to be removed, a majority of votes cast in favor of the recall must be at least as many as voted to elect the officer, or one-third of the registered voters, whichever is less. Any resulting vacancy will be filled according to existing law, and a recall petition cannot be brought against the same individual more than once in a 12-month period.
